A small group of three went to check back on the Wimberry boulders today, on account of the good weather - meaning the sun. A Nutella climbing thermometer was purchased en route to the boulders, and initially its spreadability showed perfect climbing conditions (**). However those detoriated rather quickly and by the end the Nutella had to be sliced out of the glass and onto my bread (much like cutting regular chocolate), thus fueling the suspicion that the initial report had much more to do with the in-car climate rather than the out-of-car temperatures.
It was really nice to get back out, and to touch some real rock, but only on the small crimps. The skin exposure on the bigger holds was too much so that we tried to minimize contact there. Maybe it had something to do with the north-facing exposure of the hillside, one should potentially pick a spot in the sun next time ... Anyway, here are some images of the boulders, thanks to C&S for heading to the Peak!
(**) For those not familiar with it, the Nutella climbing thermometer consists of a glass of Nutella and a slice of bread. If you can spread the chocolate, the temperatures are good for going climbing.
