Oxford Wedding Weekend

C's sister got married this past weekend in Oxford, which was quite a serious wedding event. With C being the only bridesmaid, we both actually got quite involved in some parts of the preparation. We actually had been to the happy couple's engagement party, and, having just about failed to burn down their London flat  that occasion, got asked to provide some Feuerzangenbowle for the wedding reception. I said yes long before contemplating the copious quantities of alcohol involved for the 113 guests.

Anyway, I want to share some of the pictures from the preparation which was all done on Friday afternoon in C's parent's house after a slightly snowy drive down from Liverpool. In total, we used 18 litres of wine, ca 3.5 litres of overproof rum, 12 sugar cones (all gone, thanks so much to everyone who brought some from Germany!), 2 large jam pans, various containers for products, and quite a bit of fruit and spices. Here are some of the six batches being processed in the Oxford kitchen ...

The wedding yesterday was a great event, lots of great speeches (really!) and just a wonderful party. Here is just one image of the bride and groom on their way to their secret post-wedding accommodation.

Secret? Well, they missed their taxi back to the venue this morning, so that nobody knew where the two stayed and how one might go about finding them.
