House owners

"The door to the bathroom has been rehung in the original linings. It has been hung to open outwards as opposed to internally to the room. The door has merely been turned around and as a consequence the lock is on the outside of the door. This is inappropriate as it does not provide any privacy to the bathroom occupant." - from the survey report in our house.

Long-term readers may remember recurring themes in this blog, as exemplified in these various posts here - they all have to do with moving. We've done it again, but this time we moved into a house that is actually owned by us (minus a large fraction owned by the bank).

Here are just a few images from the old-to-new-transition, more pics and stories to come later...

Two impressions from the old place. C started packing quite early, which meant that our move was reasonably stress free. We even managed to sneak over to Oxford for an evening with our moving van to celebrate J's birthday and to pick up some extra furniture and a carpet cleaner!

This will become the dining room - eventually. 

And, finally, an appropriately labeled bathroom. Yes, that's the place where the door is hung in such a way that it does not guarantee privacy for the occupants (here you need to trust people). The reason is apparently that, for all of the nice and expensive components inside the bathroom, the people who put it together arranged the sink in such a way that the door won't open any more. Ah well, such things happen ... There are more doors in our house that open in strange directions - we'll have to do something about those sooner or later.
