As might guess from the quote, I hopped across the pond today to spend a month in the wonderful city of Halifax. More details on that later.
For now, I would like to tell about yesterday's long-planned trip to Go Ape that C and I meant to do for a long, long time. S came along too, just for the hell of it. Go Ape specializes in high-rope courses, they have about 20 of them around the country. We went to the closest one to C's place, located in a beautiful set of woods. The basic idea is straight forward - you get a harness some safety education and you are off across the four separate rope courses of slightly increasing difficulty.
A very central theme of the course is a zip wire with one at the end of each rope course, there are about four courses in the entire event. Here you see C tumbling down one of the zips:
The signage is very obvious, apparently this is NOT a zip.
Balance is also a very important, especially high up in the trees.
The entire event contains two "Tarzan Jumps": you have to hook into a single rope, jump off one plattform and get caught in a net. The next platform is reached by climbing out of the net. This picture shows C demonstrating the procedure ...
C????
Ah, there she is:
Finally, S crossing one of the two extreme-rated stretches:
