So, the story was that C+F both needed a break from city and work life and booked themselves into a little hotel near Blaneau Ffestiniog, a slate mining town in the middle of Snowdonia. It's not the prettiest of all places, but the internet suggested that it was an area to go hiking and pretty much be on your own all day. And so it was!
We trundled up the ridge northeast of the quarries, nearly ended up getting lost in the fog and had a wonderful day out in the open! It was the first time in a number of years that we had to use a compass, which I luckily found a few weeks back during the last trip to Snowdonia... The first person we saw was a jogger on the track when we were almost back in the car. Here is a picture of C on the way back out of the hills.
On Sunday we did get the forecasted rain in full force. On account of that and due to the massive blister from Saturday, we had a look at a slate working place, checked out Caernarfon, and finally went for a short (and rather crowded) hike up to this little waterfall that just happened to be on our map ...
