A puzzle or two

Last week I discovered why puzzles are the perfect hobby for a scientist: You spend an enormous amount of time on a completely useless piece of work that nobody else cares about, while taking in, remembering, and combining a large number of facts and details that *should* all fit together. Of course, all along you are not supposed to lose your vision of a bigger picture ...

C got me this one for Xmas, I hope you like it. There are plenty of details that should be familiar to and interesting for the frequent traveler.
